The vehicle catalogue and sources

The models offered when creating a vehicle come from a catalogue built from European open data (CO₂ emissions of new cars and vans registered in the Union) and, for two-wheelers, from public domain open data. Garage+ aggregates and normalizes them (makes, engines, years). The catalogue is updated once a year.

It describes models, not vehicles: it contains no personal data.

A model missing from the catalogue can be entered freely when creating the vehicle. It is then kept as a garage model, visible to your garage only, and suggested first in future entries. See Vehicles.

The account menu (your name, at the bottom of the left menu) contains About. This screen, available to all members of the garage, shows:

  • the data sources and their licences: car and van data from the European Environment Agency (EEA) is released under the CC BY 4.0 licence, whose text is available from the screen; addresses come from the Base Adresse Nationale, under the Licence Ouverte 2.0;
  • the date of the last import of the catalogue and the number of models it contains;
  • the application version: the commit of the running build, linked to GitHub for the team (“local development” outside a deployment).
